In my experience, the recorder is an inspiration, a well‑worked composition tool, and a deceptively simple instrument that is a challenge to master.
I often use the recorder for improvisation. Walking or sitting, the instrument has given me countless motifs and phrases and sometimes complete pieces. I pair these melodic ideas with piano and software composition apps to build finished pieces to output audio and produce sheet music.
